Crafted in Aotearoa from vitreous stoneware, Terra is defined by its fluid, circular form and grounding presence. Each piece is finished by hand in one of four signature glazes — Dune, Pumice, Mānuka and Muriwai — a palette inspired by the shifting textures and tones of our native landscapes.

The design process unfolded through a dialogue between past and present. From analogue plaster-turning techniques to advanced digital modelling, Bing and the Plumbline team explored the possibilities of form with curiosity and control. The result is a basin that sits confidently between sculpture and utility — reductive yet expressive, strong yet refined. Gidon Bing’s philosophy is rooted in honesty of material and clarity of form. With a background in sculpture and an atelier spanning ceramics, interiors, and architecture, his work is internationally recognised yet unmistakably local in character.

“Each space or object should be simple but immaculately crafted,” he says. “Free from structural exhibitionism, and sensitive to place and purpose.

For Plumbline, the partnership was a natural extension of our commitment to craft and timeless design. “I’d always admired Gidon’s work,” says Jonathon Hall. “My goal was to give him the freedom to create something unlike anything else in our collection. Terra is that — a beautifully resolved form that speaks to our landscapes, our materials, and our shared design values.”
