DECO Australia’s aluminium cladding system, DecoClad®, has successfully passed Australian Standard 4284 – Testing of Building Facades, meeting the stringent weatherproofing requirements set out by the National Construction Code (NCC).
This certification confirms the DecoClad® system’s ability to withstand real-world weather conditions, including heavy wind-driven rain, water penetration, and structural loading – ensuring long-term performance and protection of the building envelope, as well as safeguarding the occupants inside.
“Passing this weatherproof testing demonstrates that our DecoClad® aluminium cladding not only delivers modern, architectural appeal but also provides the safety and durability today’s building facades demand.” says Richard Hamber, General Manager, DECO Australia.
The AS 4284 weatherproof testing was completed by third-party testing agency Azuma Design and followed the NCC verification testing methods in section F3V1. A purpose-built test rig featuring the DecoClad® cladding boards and accessories, including a window, was tested in state-of-the-art pressure chamber that simulated cyclonic wind loads up to 2500 Pa (an approximate wind speed of 160km/hour) and Static and Cyclonic Pressure Water Penetration Test between 750Pa and 1500Pa.
Designers and builders can be confident that DecoClad® aluminium cladding system meets all weatherproofing requirements as per the National Construction Code and
AS 4284.
