For the past decade cedar has been one of the most popular cladding products on the market, but for those seeking alternatives, a new environmentally friendly timber modification process means there are many new timber species to discover.
Thermory Ash vertical shiplap is ideal for an interior cladding because it doesn't contain any chemicals. This project was built by Design Builders, Hawke's Bay. Image credit: Hazel Redmond.
Thermory Nordic Pine is scots pine which is procured from northern Europe forests and has been thermally modified. As a result, the timber has a lighter golden colour throughout the full thickness of the timber, which naturally ages to a platinum grey
Thermory Ash is a white ash procured from North America and Europe forests, that has been thermally modified. As a result, the timber cladding has a very rich chocolate brown colour throughout the full thickness of the timber, which naturally ages to a platinum grey.
The vertical shiplap Thermory Ash provides a dramatic contrast against the polished concrete floor in this Hawke's Bay new build.
Built by Design Builders Hawke's Bay, this stunning architectural home used Thermory Ash cladding when cedar wasn't available, due to supply chain issues.
