eHaus feature in Stuff article with first certified Passive House in Waitaki

We are proud to announce the completion of the first certified passive house in the Waitaki region, setting new standards for energy efficiency, comfort, and healthy living. This groundbreaking project not only showcases the innovative solutions provided by eHaus but also highlights the dedication of its owners in embracing a sustainable vision for their home. Their story recently featured in an article by Stuff, and the level of interest has been incredible. 

Passive House is an internationally recognised performance-based building standard that delivers a building that requires very little energy for heating or cooling. The result is a home that provides a warm and comfortable living environment. The temperature is even throughout the home and operates typically between 20 and 25 degrees, while consuming minimal energy. Passive House certification is only awarded to buildings that meet the rigorous energy efficiency and comfort standards set by the Passive House Institute.

Meet the young visionaries behind this remarkable project – Sam and Ashleigh. Sam learned about passive house not long after leaving high school, and as an Engineer with a technical mind, thought it was a ‘neat concept’. When he and Ashleigh met in Oamaru a short time later, he introduced her to the idea and after joining an eHaus webinar, their journey for sustainable living began. It was their passion and the dedication of the eHaus Waitaki team that resulted in the first certified passive house being built in Waitaki.

This home proudly adheres to the eHaus Euro performance standard, delivering an impressive 91% predicted heat energy savings. This achievement not only reflects the commitment of Sam and Ashleigh to sustainability but also underscores eHaus' expertise in constructing homes that prioritise energy efficiency, health, and comfort.
