How Technogym created a world-class health and fitness destination in Arrowtown

When Millbrook began planning the refresh of its existing facilities, Technogym was the ideal partner. With aligned values and a shared focus on exceptional wellness experiences, the result is a refined and luxurious training environment.

“The goal was to create a gym environment that reflected the standard of excellence seen throughout the entire resort,” shares Technogym’s Alex Hunt. “Millbrook wanted a space that would both inspire and impress. A gym with genuine ‘wow’ factor that complemented the resort’s natural beauty and luxury experience.”

Catering to a wide range of users was a key part of the brief. Hotel guests, residents and visiting athletes all visit the resort. It was also important to express a clear connection to Millbrook’s golfing heritage. 

Technogym’s design team was involved from the outset of the project, collaborating to plan the optimal floorplan, spatial flow and user journey. Everything was presented visually in detail before installation with both teams working through multiple design iterations, fine-tuning the layout and equipment layout to make the most of the space.

“The Kinesis Personal was installed for its elegant design and versatility, ideal for golf-specific movement and full body training. Alongside this, the Technogym Visio intuitive tutorials and guidance, ensuring every user can train effectively and confidently,” says Alex. 

The space also now features the Technogym Digital platform, allowing seamless onboarding, class scheduling and performance tracking, creating a truly connected wellness experience.

“For a golf resort or hotel setting, this is one of the most impressive facilities in New Zealand. Many Millbrook guests and residents travel frequently and experience high end clubs abroad, so the standard needed to match what they’re used to internationally.”

From the moment visitors arrive at Millbrook, they’re immersed in the stunning landscape of Arrowtown, and the new health and wellness centre now mirrors this same sense of calm and beauty, offering guests and members a space that’s as aesthetic and comfortable as it is functional. 

“What began as a simple gym upgrade has evolved into a fully integrated wellness ecosystem and now stands proudly alongside Technogym’s best global installations.”
