Natalie Brcar is responsible for end-to-end project delivery at Brcar Morony Architecture. Natalie opted to use recycled brick in her award-winning 'A House for Grandma' project because she saw it was a good opportunity to embody sustainable thinking in the project. She also wanted to create a strong contrast between old and new.
Natalie and her team created a space for multi-generational use by transforming a garage into a pavilion-style home with brick and timber cladding framing a spacious living area.
Taking her client to The Brick Pit to hand-select palettes of reclaimed brick was a rewarding experience, Natalie said.
“Wandering around on site was a very tangible way for my client to see the bricks and added depth and texture to the project.
"There's so much stock there, but the way it's curated in various colour grades meant it was easy to get the finish and look we wanted.
"The name of the feature blend we chose was Parterre with a white-wash finish. It was a very hands-on experience for my client.
"We were very happy with the beautiful blend of bricks sourced from The Brick Pit, and we were thrilled with the result.
"We love using products from The Brick Pit because there’s great stock to choose from!
"We’re deeply grateful to our client for embracing the design process with us, supporting our vision for the project, and championing our ongoing commitment to a circular economy and reuse.
"A huge thank you as well to the amazing Tricky the Bricky and Cubic Construction Management, who brought the design to life with precision and care." - Natalie Brcar from Brcar Morony Architecture
