Careful curation has crafted a welcoming residence that honours the homeowners’ love for travel.
Sandra Aiken, principal designer and founder of D for Design.
The homeowners have collected artwork from their global travels.
The project focused on creating beautifully
cohesive living spaces, seamlessly blending cherished art, modern furniture and the architectural features of the classic home.
A ceremonial gong has been considerately included in the dining room with lighting above.
Two beautiful bookcases were custom-designed and manufactured to fit the cavities
on either side of the fireplace – a nod to Parisian style.
Aiken designed a window seat and a cavity in the bay window for artwork.
“The gold velvet of the ottoman also enhances the brass and gold elements around the living space and ties in with the gold in the Buddha print.”
The window seat overlooks Wellington Harbour.
The black and cream-coloured furniture is a nod to the black, white and marble tiles in the kitchen and bathroom.
