DISANO: the healthy flooring option

DISANO: the healthy flooring option

Creating a healthful environment in your home starts from the floor up.

Words by Justin Foote

Not all flooring materials are created equal and while many may seem to be an ideal solution, few stack up when considering their environmental credentials—both in terms of their manufacture and their ability to maintain a healthy environment in your home.

DISANO by HARO is one of the good ones being PVC- and plasticiser-free, including those phthalates commonly found in vinyl flooring.

“The HARO brand is synonymous with quality engineered flooring that is both beautiful and sustainable,” says HARO Flooring New Zealand Operations and Sales Manager Richard St John. “This is backed up by ECO Institut-, PEFC- and Blue Angel-certification, as well as ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001 certification. Also, HARO is a member of the European Federation of the Parquet Industry (FEP).

“DISANO is a newly developed, eco-friendly flooring solution that is comfortable to walk on, suitable for wet areas, is pet friendly and easy to clean. DISANO has similar benefits to vinyl flooring but has the huge advantage of creating a healthy living environment for you and your family.”

DISANO is the whole-house flooring solution thanks to its moisture-resistant composition making it suitable for wet-area applications such as kitchens, laundries and bathrooms.

One flooring surface throughout your home

“We get many customers coming to us looking for a flooring solution that is suitable for people with allergies,” says Richard. “The DISANO range is a true whole-house solution with options that can be used in wet areas such as kitchens through to wet rooms such as bathrooms and laundries, thanks to its revolutionary damp- and water-resistance capabilities, once fully glued down.

“DISANO is also warranted for installation over underfloor heating systems up to 29°C, making it ideal for use in bedrooms and living areas that may otherwise be carpeted.”

What makes DISANO an ideal choice for use throughout the home is its four-layer technology, says Richard.

“Starting at the bottom, there is a layer of high-density cork insulation for reduction of room and footfall sound. Next there is an AquaReject core board layer, based on natural materials and particularly resistant to swelling. This is topped with a ElastoTec layer for additional comfort as well as providing additional comfort, durability and moisture resistance, while the SilentSense timber-look surface layer imparts a warmth that makes DISANO a joy to walk on, as well as being exceptionally hard-wearing and easy to maintain.”

Durable, comfortable and eco-friendly, DISANO is PVC and plasticiser free, helping maintain a healthy living environment in your home.

DISANO: the New Zealand range

Offered exclusively through HARO Flooring New Zealand, the DISANO New Zealand range features six carefully curated styles specifically chosen to resonate with the Kiwi sensibility. Additionally, more styles are available through HARO in Germany and can be ordered through HARO Flooring New Zealand.

“DISANO comes in a long-plank format—2035mm x 235mm x 9.3mm—that is particularly suited to the open-plan format of Kiwi homes. The range is also highly dimensionally stable and UV resistant, meaning it won’t warp or fade through exposure to our intense solar glare and will continue to look as good as the day it was laid, for years to come,” says Richard.

“Other benefits include its durability, which makes it particularly resistant to a phenomenon known as ‘cold flow’, which are visible dents in a floor’s surface resulting from the ongoing compression caused by furniture or chair legs. Because DISANO is pressure resistant it withstands the long-term impact of even heavy furniture.

“Tied into its sustainability and PVC- and plasticiser-free composition, DISANO is safe enough to literally be placed in the bin at the end of its lifecycle and poses no threat to animals or pets.”
