Robemaker: smart storage solutions with Cowdroy

One of the most crucial choices when designing a wardrobe is assessing the available space around and inside it.

Words by ArchiPro Editorial Team

One of the most crucial choices when designing a wardrobe is assessing the available space around and inside it. If a bedroom area is to maximise the use of space, generally utilising a sliding door system is the first obvious choice. “The main benefit of using a slider system is that it’s an unobtrusive way of achieving a contemporary design without taking up a lot of space,” Wallace says.

If you’re bent towards pre-hung doors, while they have their own benefits, they open into the room and take away from the amount of available space around the wardrobe area.

Cowdroy started in the door track and cavity slider business in New Zealand in 1986 and have since become renowned for their extensive range of door tracks, cavity sliders, wardrobe sliding doors and wardrobe organisers. But it is one of Cowdroy’s recently released products that is currently generating excitement for architects and designers.

With nothing else like it on the market, the Mediterranean door has been designed as a lightweight 36mm thick aluminium sliding door. It has 50mm wide stiles and rails giving it a sleek slim line look.

Robemaker Sliding Wardrobe Track System

Originally our design focus was for our Robemaker wardrobe track system. Upon releasing it to the market we have also supplied it into the commercial arena as a surface mounted sliding door and our customers have also used it in our cavity slider units.

It can take 4mm glass or mirror panels, 9mm MDF, 9mm melamine

and 9mm white board panels,” Wallace says. “The maximum height is 2400mm and maximum width is 1200mm.”

The RobeMaker sliding wardrobe track can accommodate doors weighing up to 40kg and incorporates the patented snap strip, which is attached to the floor before the track is clipped to it eliminating any visible fixings. It is available in a double track which can accommodate 2, 3 and 4 doors. It is also available in a triple track, which enables all three doors to slide over each other giving you an increased walk through space.

“Because the RobeMaker system has the same trim height as standard pre-hung doors, it enables the customer to match existing pre-hung door panels in the home with their wardrobe doors,” Wallace says. “Currently, the Mediterranean door is the only aluminium door of this style being offered for wardrobe doors in New Zealand.”

Wardrobe Organiser - Get Organised For Life

Cowdroy also specialise in wardrobe organisers, which complement the tracks and doors, all of which are customisable to suit a particular area or client’s taste. Cowdroy offers a full service and will do an initial site visit to consult directly with the customer or designer before developing a suitable solution and offering a full installation service. All Cowdroy’s products are manufactured in New Zealand and come with a 10 year written warranty.
