Bathrooms are the rooms in which we both start and end our day. They’re spaces where, more than ever, we are aiming to create a feeling of zen and tranquility combined with elegant luxury.

It’s within this context that Artedomus works. “Our aim is to provide our clients with a range of beautiful organic materials that work together in a harmonious way,” Artedomus’ Richard Brasell says. “Bathroomware has to be easy to care for as well as be stunning both visually and texturally.”

The latest addition to the Artedomus range is Casabath, an Italian designer and manufacturer that strives to create classic designs in elegant forms and finishes.

“We first noticed Casabath in 2015 on buying trip in Italy. Their pieces stood out to us instantly in their classic simplicity,” Artedomus’ Richard says. “While some Italian design can be a little tricky and of the moment, we could see the Casabath aesthetic would fit well in the New Zealand market.”

Much of the Casabath range is manufactured with a product the company developed in 1997, Monolith. It was the first manmade solid bathroom surface available in Italy, crafted with mineral-rich poly-acrylic resins and moulded in a polymeric process. “The result is a material that works better than slab materials, and it’s even textured allowing for an even colour throughout. Monolith has an almost silken, lacquer quality to it,” Richard says.

The Casabath range is extensive, with custom-made mirrors, wall and storage cabinets to fit each. “Many of the pieces have backlit LED options, which are a popular way to add further glamour and luxury to a space.”

In line with current trends centred around glamour and bold statements of rich colour and texture that come together to create an overt feeling of luxurious tranquility, the ability to enhance a simple, elegant design with additions and accessories is central to Casabath. “You can add bling to your drawers with wooden, glass and leather inserts.”

While the range offers standard options, what’s appealing about it for designers is the customisable finishes, which range in scope from solid timber through to steel frames and facings and leather-fronted drawers.

“Depending on the desired aesthetic, tops are also available in stone and marble. There’s a huge amount of range in the core collection in terms of component size too, but pieces can also be completely custom-built, and components are designed to be interchanged.”

Artedomus is a New Zealand-owned and operated business specialising in exclusive collections of marble, limestone, mosaics and bathroomware.
