Part of good design is bringing style to all areas of a space, and hot tubs are no exception. But what makes a hot tub a good investment for your backyard?

Sitting back relaxing in over one metre of heated, filtered water with soothing, therapeutic massage jets… soaking in a Colonial Cedar Hot Tub is a luxurious experience.

Built with quality Canadian Heart Cedar, the tubs are aesthetically a step above.

A bespoke, sustainable solution

Locally handcrafted since 1973, Colonial Hot Tubs are a bespoke solution – products that have been refined over time through the family-owned business.

“If you’re looking to enhance your backyard, it’s a great place to start,” says Colonial Hot Tubs owner, Charles George. “The benefits and therapeutic qualities of soaking in hot water are long held.”

“The soaking experience of a hot tub is very different from a plastic spa pool because you’re sitting vertically, you’re upright with your feet down in the middle if you want. Being vertical makes you a bit more weightless – it’s more of a floating sensation.”

Built with quality Canadian Heart Cedar, the tubs are also aesthetically a step above. Certified sustainable with natural anti-mould and anti-decay properties, this timber only gets better with age.

These vertical cedar staves are held together by the traditional method of Coopering, a highly specalised process that forms a watertight seal – the same method well-known for producing Oak wine barrels.

The result gives Colonial Hot Tubs the distinctive look that the brand is known for.

“It’s more of a bespoke solution, that’s why we work well with architects because they’ll always have a vision and we can facilitate that,” says Charles, explaining that aspects such as pump and filter design and configuration can be customised for each project so that they are fitted out of sight.

The hot tubs come in a variety of sizes – from 1,195 litres (4 foot)to 5,480 litres (8 foot) – and bespoke options for fittings and finishes are available. Charles says that useability is also thoughtfully considered.

“We’ve got all of the accessories sorted to the point that there’s a solution for everything. If you want it to be freestanding, we’ve got curved steps with a removable top step that makes it qualify for a pool fence exemption.”

The complete service

Built entirely to your requirements, introducing a Colonial Hot Tub to your outdoor space is easy thanks to the help of the brand’s expert team.

“We can organise everything – we try to make it easy for customers,” says Charles. From organising a crane to lift the tub into the property, to working with landscapers, every detail is included. “We can give you a final price to be sitting in your hot tub.”

Once the hot tub is positioned in its final location, the Colonial Hot Tubs team will visit the site and demonstrate how to use the product.

“And if that’s not possible, we can do it over Zoom or FaceTime, whatever suits the customer. You will get the cell phone number of either myself or my sales manager, and if you have any issues, you can call us directly,” says Charles.
