The latest technology in cavity sliders is a small but ingenious piece of equipment that allows the door to close softly. It seems simple, because it is and it’s set to revolutionize the cavity slider market.

“We believe that in five years’ time, every cavity slider that leaves our factory will have a soft close mechanism installed as standard,” Cowdroy’s Brett Wallace says. This is his opinion because of the unprecedented demand for this new technology.

Cowdroy decided to embark on a two-year long research and development project to design and manufacture the Optimiser Plus soft close mechanism for their cavity slider unit after increasing demand from architects for the solution to a problem most of us know well – the perils of banging doors and jammed fingers.

The unique design of the Optimiser Plus is in its simplicity: the roller activates the soft close mechanism as it slides along. This feature has patents pending in New Zealand and Australia. “The mechanism is screwed into the track. With two spring tensions, it can be used for standard hollow core doors, or heavy doors weighing up to 50kg,” Brett says.

Designed for use in conjunction with the Triumph track, it is a versatile product that can be used in the majority of projects and is suitable for a variety of stud sizes ranging from 70mm up to 190mm and the trim height is the door height plus 100mm.

Made with glass reinforced nylon polymer, Cowdroy has the mechanism manufactured in Auckland. It was recently tested to Australasian standards when it was found to reach 10,000 cycles without any damage, and comes with a 10-year warranty.
