Akira Isogawa is one of Australia's most celebrated fashion designers. Collaborating with Designer Rugs on three collections since 2005, the synergy between our designers expertise and Akira’s trademark breathtaking yet understated designs, has resulted in some of our most enduring and iconic rugs.

Akira's third collection HIRAMEKI, meaning ‘Inspiration’, references his 2012 catwalk collections. Akira’s love of exploring the juxtaposition between his traditional Japanese heritage and the celebration of Australia’s love of colour has translated into some exquisite pieces.

"Ayame' (Iris) are commonly used in Japanese gardens and the motifs of the flowers are used in Kimonos. The original fabric was found in Kyoto. It was block and screen printed onto silk." Akira
