Cast Glass Native Birds by Lukeke Design

Lukeke Design is an Auckland based glass studio established by Katherine Rutecki (USA) and Luke Jacomb (NZ). Lukeke Design creates quality handmade cast and blown glass artworks that are beautiful, accessible and affordable.Luke Jacomb is a second generation New Zealand glass artist. Brought up in the world of glass art, he learnt the skills from an early age.

Jacomb fell in love with the medium and has continually found unique ways of pushing the limits of glass, technically and commercially. He continues to engage with the wider glass community, exhibits his work widely, and frequently collaborates with other glass artists.

The Lukeke Design name has become synonymous with the cast glass birds that display as wall sculptures. This series includes a range of native New Zealand birds in a plethora of luminous colours. These pieces look impressive installed as a single, cluster or flock. When wall mounted the birds appear as if in flight, creating a joyful display.

Lukeke Design works can be found in a number of significant private and public collections, including the Ebeltoff Glass Museum (Denmark), Corning Museum of Glass (New York, USA) and the New Orleans Museum of Art (Louisiana, USA).
