For almost 30 years the Tradewinds Classic Saligna Outdoor Umbrellas have been providing shade throughout New Zealand.

They are hand made using the highest quality materials and are famous for their performance in all types of weather conditions with many of the original umbrellas supplied more than 25 years ago still in use, at home, at the beach, still protecting the families who bought them.

And, because they have served so well, many of those families have a number of Tradewinds Classic umbrellas across more than one generation and throughout their extended families.

They are easy to use, easy to maintain and easy to brand which means that they are also great in commercial and hospitality locations and are the preferred market umbrella for many well known cafes, bars, restaurants and wineries.

Manufactured using the highest quality kiln dried Eucalyptus timber, stainless steel fittings and 100% solution dyed fabrics  

Performance

All the Classic poles and hubs are manufactured using laminated timber to maximise the umbrellas strength.

All the components can be replaced, when necessary, which prolongs the life of the umbrella and contributes significantly to its sustainability and value for money.

The fabrics offer 50+ UV protection, are 100% water repellent and are naturally resistant to rotting, mildew, acids and alkalis.

Laurie and Sharron Stewart acquired the Auckland based business in 2019 and have already expanded the product range. Bringing European brands like Fatboy® to New Zealand has seen the range expand to include outdoor furniture and lighting along with the Flexy Shade System from FIM. 

These new brands offer iconic style and quality design solutions that have not been available before in New Zealand. 

Our core business, however, is still shade and we really have something for everybody from a premium 2.6m classic café style to a selection of more substantial 4.0m octagonal centre pole umbrellas. If required, products can be custom branded for commercial use. 

In partnership with well-respected Kiwi manufacturer Shadowspec, Tradewinds can also offer a range of technically advanced, single and multi-canopy cantilever umbrellas which are becoming much more popular for commercial purposes because of their quality and versatility and, above all, because they represent great value for money.
