Copper Clad Stainless Steel

CopperClad is a material composed of pure copper and stainless steel, that has a higher strength and formability than pure copper, it offers benefits such as cost reduction and enhanced workability due to reasonable price and lower density.

This material consists of 3 layers, the first layer is 10% C110 Copper, the second layer consists of 80% 304, 409L or 439 Stainless Steel and the bottom layer is again 10% of C110 Copper. Stainless steel has higher elasticity which makes this material more suitable for roofing applications than pure copper. In this case Copper and Stainless Steel are metallurgically and permanently joined at the atomic level using a technique called atomic diffusion. There is no brazing or other intermediate materials used to bond the layers.

We currently supply this material for Cladding, Roofing, Spouting and decorative purposes. This material ages naturally like pure copper does and on special request we could offer 30 years substrate warranty given material has been installed by an approved installer.

To consider this material for your next project, contact us for more information.
