Drainage Mat For Artificial Turf | Landscaping Grass is used as an underlay it is applied underneath SmartGrass when it has been installed on a surface that does not have vertical drainage (e.g. concrete, butanol balconies etc).

It creates an 8mm space under SmartGrass that allows water to drain horizontally more freely across the concrete, without being trapped by the grass.

This is also a common solution when installing SmartGrass overtop of concrete where dogs may go to the toilet, as it allows the dog pee to drain through the grass then horizontally along with the concrete (as opposed to being trapped under the grass).
