Engineered & Prefinished Flooring

Engineered Unfinished and Prefinished flooring:

Because we think your engineered flooring should have the same longevity and reliability as a solid timber floor, we have taken the time to source and test the best quality and fairly priced engineered unfinished and pre finished wood flooring on the global market for our customers.

When is Engineered timber as good as a solid wood floor? Well, it’s all about the wear layer…

Our unfinished European engineered Oak flooring has a thicker than normal 6mm wear layer on a 14mm plywood base that once installed can be completely sanded and refinished again 4-5 times. The average lifespan, therefore, being approximately 60-80 years. This is a premium product that has been tried and tested by Freedom Flooring in New Zealand and is suitable for every type of installation from large or small residential homes to large apartment and other commercial developments.

Do I still have Freedom of choice when it comes to colour and finishes?

In short - yes, with unfinished engineered flooring you have complete freedom. The reason we supply the option of an unfinished engineered Oak is because we believe that you should still be able to choose your own style of colour and finish for your wood flooring. If you wish however, these boards are also able to be coated off-site and installed as a ‘pre-finished’ product. This does incur an extra cost but it does minimise mess. Most of the time unfinished engineered flooring is installed in the same way as solid timber - sanded and finished on site.

Prefinished Engineered Flooring is a another great flooring option that is more cost-effective as it requires installation only, there is no finishing on site and this speeds up the timeline of your project. There is always a product that will suit most budgets in the ranges of prefinished flooring. Freedom Flooring's wide range comes ready to install and is engineered for optimum durability and performance making it a versatile timber flooring option for any residential or commercial project. Please take note though - Pre finished products are definately not made equal, please be VERY careful when choosing prefinished wooden flooring and take the time to talk to us first for advice because there is a vast difference in cheaper products that will not stand up to the test of even the shortest length of time!

Therefore, like all things Freedom Flooring we only supply and install top quality pre finished products to ensure both the longevity of your wood floor, and our outstanding reputation!

There are many combinations of colour, style and finish with prefinished wood flooring so although it's a cheaper option than solid flooring you will still be very happy with your choice. Our showroom has a wide variety for you to view, so come and see us!
