Sunbrella is founded on the belief that fabrics should be both beautiful and functional. They began in the 1960s with the challenge of creating an awning canvas with a substantially longer lifespan than cotton. Sunbrella has become widely adopted for shade structures, marine canvas and upholstery fabric for both outdoor and indoor applications.

Laurie and Sharron Stewart acquired the Auckland based business in 2019 and have already expanded the product range. Bringing European brands like Fatboy® to New Zealand has seen the range expand to include outdoor furniture and lighting along with the Flexy Shade System from FIM.
These new brands offer iconic style and quality design solutions that have not been available before in New Zealand.
Our core business, however, is still shade and we really have something for everybody from a premium 2.6m classic café style to a selection of more substantial 4.0m octagonal centre pole umbrellas. If required, products can be custom branded for commercial use.
In partnership with well-respected Kiwi manufacturer Shadowspec, Tradewinds can also offer a range of technically advanced, single and multi-canopy cantilever umbrellas which are becoming much more popular for commercial purposes because of their quality and versatility and, above all, because they represent great value for money.
