Gilded Bronze Table Lamp | Signed Aig Moreau

$1,850
Bronze
H685 mm

A late 19th century French Louis XV gilt bronze figural lamp of a Putti. The naturalist base with a small bird has been signed Aug. Moreau (for Auguste Louis Moreau (French, 1834-1917). The lamp has been paired with a vintage black finial shade with a golden card interior and it has been re wired to NZ standards. Auguste Moreau was a French sculptor born in Dijon. He was the youngest son of sculptor and painter Jean-Baptiste Moreau. In 1861, Auguste Moreau made his debut at the Salon, where he exhibited regularly and with many works until 1913. Moreau cast much of his sculptural work in bronze, often choosing pastoral or allegorical scenes as his subject matter.
