Website

Granite, which makes up 70–80% of Earth's crust, is an igneous rock formed of interlocking crystals of quartz , feldspar , mica, and other minerals in lesser quantities. Large masses of granite are a major ingredient of mountain ranges. Granite is a plutonic rock, meaning that it forms deep underground.

How is it created?  Granite is formed over millions of years by volcanic activity. Magma flows from volcanic activity and slowly cools over millions of years. During the process, magma combines with various minerals including hornblend, feldspar, mica and quartz to create its "crystal appearance".

Granite is not porous, and unlike laminate or acrylic it can withstand extreme temperatures. Having said that, the natural expansion and contraction of the stone means that it's still best to avoid exposing it to extreme hot and cold, as cracking may occur.  Granite is a natural product, and for that reason it's prone to colour variations - but like all natural products this adds to the charm of the material and the overall aesthetic. Granite is timeless, stylish and long-lasting.
