Ibla Porcelain Tile by Ceramiche Piemme

Ibla is a latest-generation porcelain stoneware series with an extremely rich assortment, offering the architect countless potentials for use, all perfectly matchable as the basis for architectural projects with the highest technical and aesthetic values, as a great creative tradition is paired with Italian excellence in technological and production innovation.

Asphalt rock is a soft limestone impregnated with variable percentages of natural fossil hydrocarbons (bitumen). “Pietra Pece”, distinctive to the city of Ragusa, is a special Italian form of asphalt rock known for its unique colouring ranging from pale grey to dark brown and black; its fossils, veining and strong stippling give its surface character and depth of colour. Thanks to its workability, for many centuries it was central to the art and culture of the ancient part of Ragusa, known in past centuries as “Ibla” because its people, of Greek origin, venerated a goddess of that name. This slice of Mediterranean history, with its people and the special material they used to build their city over the centuries, now gives its name to a porcelain stoneware collection: Ibla.

Technology

The “Synchro Digit” digital surface structure, exclusively developed at the Piemme plants, combined with high-resolution printing at 300 DPI, provides a material with a uniquely hyper-realistic appearance and outstanding technical and aesthetic qualities. The soft three-dimensional surface is no longer formed by pressing and is therefore free from the repetitive constraints of classic ceramic moulds; moreover, it is perfectly synchronised with the graphics on the surface.

Inspiration

Special three-dimensional relief decorations with an evident Sicilian inspiration, such as traditional lace that is recalled by the “Tombolo” decoration, or by the “Zagara” flower, are enhanced by the new “Synchro Digit” three-dimensional decoration technology, thanks to the perfect combination of tactile and visual sensations.

Brymac Tiles is a family-owned business established in Christchurch in 1976, yes that’s right, Brymac have been operating in the Christchurch tile market for 40 years!

Brymac was primarily a tile installation service; many people will remember them in their store behind Briscoes in Salisbury Street. In the 1990s the Brymac team began sourcing and importing their own tiles.  The emphasis back then and today is specializing in high-quality European tiles at the cutting edge of fashion and trend but with a difference; price!

By 2010 Brymac tiles had outgrown their little shop behind Briscoes and moved to 42 Durham Street.  In 2015 this distinctive black building was refurbished and now boasts a massive downstairs showroom, an intimate architectural studio and a dedicated trade counter for tradesmen and DIYers alike.  Not only that; the Brymac installation team are also on-site to offer an installation service second to none.

Over the years the business has diversified and grown while still maintaining the family values, old fashioned service and advice.  Years (decades even) of experience have allowed the team to find tiling systems and accessories that Brymac could 100% put their name behind.  We now offer, with confidence to tradespeople and DIYers a range of tried and true products and ranges; Ardex, Mapei, Tilers mate, DTA, Kemgrout just to name a few.

Brymac knows tiles and tiling; we believe we offer the best quality European tiles at the best price; materials that you can count on to get any tiling job done and an installation team with a 40-year reputation for quality.  Who else can say that?
