Ice Detection Road Light

Website

Another of LZ New Zealand's innovations is the Ice Detection Road Light a new illuminated ice warning system that can be installed on New Zealand road.

The pavement marker is solar-powered and flashes a blue LED light if the temperature drops to zero. The light is visible from up to half a kilometre away in standard conditions.

As well as being used on roads, the markers could also be located in car parks and along walkways, steps and cycleways where ice may be present to reduce the risk of falls and slips.

An advanced model of the ice detection light can be connected to a server where a warning is triggered when the light switches on. This could be used to activate other warning signs or alert councils or other organisations that action needs to be taken.
