Christine McDonald is a Senior Designer for Designer Rugs, with over 20 years of experience. Rugs are often inspired by nature, abstract and evolved, and Christine’s collection LØCAL definitely draws from this. Christine developed each design from a very personal aspectthe region of Wollongong, where she grew up and still lives to this day. The designs have been described as “looking through the clouds onto a field of pattern”, just like you would see from the panoramic view at Stanwell Tops. The aesthetic created by the LØCAL collection is further enhanced by the use of traditional, Nepalese hand knotting techniques. The time-honoured tradition of hand knotting Tibetan wool collides in a palette of colours, each sympathetic to the Australian interior.

STANWELL is closest to Christines heart. It's the place of her upbringing, her home. Stanwell Park was where Christine was a member of the surf club, as a young body boarder and where many a beach party was held. The design uses double triangles [diamonds]; its busy, like Christines childhood. Its reminiscent of a blanket for those cool nights or a beach towel for those summer days at the beach.
