cornice (from the Italian cornice meaning "ledge") is generally any horizontal decorative moulding that crowns a building.

The function of the projecting cornice of a building is to throw rainwater free of the building’s walls. House eaves may also be called "cornices" if they are finished with decorative moulding.

Accumen Shapes stock cornices in a number of different styles (examples of in-stock DecraShape® cornice shapes can be viewed under Stock Mouldings). Accumen Shapes can also custom manufacture cornices to exacting standards.

The projecting cornice of a building may appear to be heavy and hence in danger of falling, particularly on commercial buildings, but Accumen Shapes solves that problem by providing lightweight yet robust alternatives.  Accumen Shapes are also proficient in replicating historical cornices.

Custom-made designs are available on request. A selection of suggested examples of cornice shapes can be viewed on Accumen Shapes website. If the eave is not square to the wall where the cornice is to be installed, Accumen Shapes suggests that you ask them to remove an angled section of the cornice that is going into the corner to give you the ability to roll the cornice as it is installed, to alleviate possible gaps.

Accumen Shapes can recommend professional plasterers throughout New Zealand who are available to assist you with installation.
