In general, the best height for a bedside table is parallel with the top of the mattress, give or take a bit. In most cases, a table that is slightly higher than the mattress height creates a more unified look than one that is slightly lower.

Generally, bedside tables destined for a child’s room are chosen for durability and ease of use. In many cases, selecting a kid's bedside table is a balance of function and timelessness - rather than selecting a fanciful style suitable for a very young child, selecting a more neutral style will ensure the furniture will grow with the child’s changing tastes and work with updated decor over the years.
