For example, the base or legs of a table can have an impact on how many people can comfortably sit around a table at once. A table with thinner legs positioned near the corners of the table will allow for more legroom and easier access to seating.

With a huge variety of materials to choose from, it can be hard to know where to begin. Wood is a classic material for dining tables. It is durable, easy to repair and easy to update with paint or stain over time. Glass is another popular option, and can create a sense of openness and space while marble, stone and stone-look tables offer a sense of permanence.
