Heat pumps remain one of the most preferred home heating options in New Zealand homes, and there’s a reason for that. They’re cost-efficient, quick and easy to install and provide instant heat to even large spaces.

The right heat pump for space will depend on its size, the wider environmental conditions, the style of building, its insulation and glazing, and how high the ceilings are. Other factors to consider are whether space is open plan, what sort of ventilation the home has, and the best placement for a heat pump in the room itself.

Heat pump air conditioners will filter the air as it enters the home, and most offer both heating and cooling so they can be used year-round to maintain an ambient indoor temperature. 

The heat pump as an air conditioning unit

A residential heat pump is generally thought of only as a means of heating the home, due of course to its name. However, the use of the heat as an air conditioning unit in summer can also be an efficient way to cool the home without incorporating an additional mechanical cooling system in the home.
