Swimming pool cleaning can also prevent a host of problems that will cause immense frustration. A pool owner should not have to contend with clogged drains, algae, or even the likelihood of illness. Hot tub cleaning and maintenance is relatively simple to implement. The right swim pool maintenance routine will keep the water crystal-clear. A good pool care routine takes the three C’s of pool care into account: circulation, cleaning, and chemistry.

Still water is a turnoff to any swimmer with its murkiness. Water needs to circulate if it's to stay clear, clean, and safe for swimming. It is hard for algae to accumulate in water that is properly circulated. There will be less cloudiness too. The pump and filter system has to be running constantly.

Cleaning the water is also easier with good circulation. Leaves and other residual components contaminate the water and need to be skimmed out. Skimming, brushing, and vacuuming the pool need to happen weekly at the very least. An automatic pool cleaner significantly reduces maintenance time. 

Pool chemistry is also an essential element of effective maintenance. A water testing kit will come in handy. Understanding the chemistry of pool water is step one of keeping it in good chemical balance.

Testing the water 2 to 4 times a week will help keep the water balance in check. The pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and sanitiser levels can be adjusted when the need arises. Chemicals can be added to bring the water balance to the right level. These chemicals all have instructions that should be followed.

Spa Cleaning & Maintenance

Spa pool maintenance can easily be implemented by keeping tabs on the water quality. Water quality is an essential component of what makes a good spa. Many use the option of tap water which is great for spas though it needs to be tested.

A test kit will identify elements that negatively impact water balance. A spa pre-filter also helps with the removal of metals, odours, and fine silt. This makes the water more suitable for use.

The spa filters should also be cleaned regularly. It is typically located under the skimmer basket at the side of the spa. Some other spa types have a relatively small tank assembly that opens up underneath the spa.  

For this type, a closable valve exists to prevent the water from draining out when the filter is opened. Turning the filter body counter-clockwise helps access the filter cartridge that is then cleaned using a spa filter cleaner.

Spa Pool Cleaners

The spa’s surfaces are also cleaned using a spa pool cleaner like a spray. Household cleaning products and soaps are avoided as they may contain phosphates, nitrates, and other contaminants that negatively affect water quality.

Spa Covers

Airing out the spa cover at least twice a week will increase its longevity.  A spa cover lifter can be used to completely remove the cover which enables it to breathe.   

Filling the spa regularly also keeps the water at acceptable levels.
