Retrofit double glazing windows and doors

Retrofit double glazing windows and doors with wooden frames for better insulation & energy efficiency in Auckland homes

Cedarlite Industries offers retrofit double glazing and quality wooden frames for glassed windows and doors using the latest European hardware and technology.

Timber has extremely good insulation properties and unrivalled aesthetics. European-style double glazed joinery is well established overseas where thermally efficient building materials are considered paramount.

Buildings can lose a lot of their heat through glassed areas so combining Cedarlite timber joinery with double glazing makes for the most efficient thermal solution, protecting you from climatic extremes through both winter and summer.

Heating & Cooling Performance

Insulating Glass Units (IGU’s) or otherwise known as Double Glazed Units. IGU’s are generally designed to provide thermal insulation for buildings. They are mainly designed to reduce building heat loss and heat gain depending on the climate and IGU  combination chosen. (i.e. Warmer in Winter (Heating Performance) - Cooler in Summer (Cooling Performance). IGUs consist of two pieces of glass sandwiching a sealed airspace. It is this air space that reduces thermal transmission.

The transfer of hot or cold air through windows can be reduced between 40 & 70% with IGUs depending on the glass type and airspace width used. Due to the versatility of IGUs, almost any combination of glass can be used. Tinted, reflective, low emissivity coated, noise reducing, fade protection glasses even “self-cleaning” glass options nowadays can all be used and combined depending on the Glass Solution performance outcome required.

In brief IGU’s retain much more heat in a room during winter thus reducing heat loss and saving energy. They reduce noise penetration and window condensation and provide warmer zones near windows to increase comfort and reducing the need for Thermal drapes etc. In summer combining the use of solar control glass - standard body tints or high-performance tints you can control the amount of heat gain, glare and fading, therefore, increasing air conditioning efficiency etc.

If greater thermal performance is required then the incorporation of (Low E Glass) should be considered especially in the colder climates zones throughout NZ. Low E glass improves the insulating performance or U-Value of the IGU as it traps the heat inside the building. The coating is normally used on surface 3 to reflect the building’s longwave radiation and is normally clear or neutral in colour. It should be noted that due to the thermal coating of Low E products a slight haze may be seen through the glass at certain angles and/or lighting conditions. Also, the incorporation of Argon gas filling in IGU’s offers increased thermal performance as it has a lower thermal conductivity than air.

All in all, creating an energy efficient healthier environment in which to live.
