Wellington's iconic Basin Reserve Cricket Museum stand has recently undergone a major refurbishment. Built-in 1924, this historic building has been brought back to life. The Museum Stand is registered as a Category two, historic place as part of the Basin Reserve historic area. This recently completed work will extend the lifespan of the building for a further 50 years.
There were a few challenges for the Architects; Shand Shelton, to find a suitable system to reline 1200 sq metres of Soffit.
The solution needed to accommodate the aesthetics of the historical building, had to be able to meet the required 2.2kpa wind pressures, had to be lightweight enough to avoid additional structural substrate work and have the capacity to be able to span 800 centres. The product needed to be low maintenance and able to meet the 50-year durability requirements.
Flashclad Dualboard Cladding met all the requirements.
"We have been working with Flashclad since 2012 using both their aluminium cladding and specialist window flashing systems. We have found their products, their design support and their installation services professional, robust and reliable. We have recently completed the Basin Reserve Cricket Pavilion Seismic Strengthening Project on a tight programme, where Flashclad Wellington installed over a 1000m2 aluminium soffit using their Dualboard pro. We continue to design and specify Flashclad in the knowledge that their products are the industry benchmark and that they continue to deliver from both the design and construction perspective." - Roger Shand, Shand Shelton Ltd.
