Burnt Earth Beach House is a thoughtfully designed, multigenerational home that celebrates the beauty and warmth of terracotta. The exterior bespoke hand torn bricks, floors and joinery elements create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. This haven provides a seamless connection between its inhabitants, the surrounding landscape, and the Southern Ocean.
The cruciform plan is carefully designed to maximise natural light and breathtaking views. The central kitchen, the heart of the home, is positioned at the intersection of the cross, offering a focal point for gathering and socialising.
Sustainable materials, such as recycled spotted gum flooring and veneer joinery, add a touch of natural beauty and contribute to the home's environmental footprint. The variety of spaces on both levels accommodates both communal activities and private moments, ensuring a comfortable and fulfilling living experience.
This is a brick. Not an ordinary brick. Invented. Its surface torn by hand, infused with glaze applied to its raw clay form, it is a brick in a wall. Not a conventional wall, a wall of a home, specific to place.
Krause Bricks has been a family owned and run business since 1945. The traditional craftsmanship and methods of brickmaking have been passed down through three generations, with each one adding their own innovations and modernisations.
