On a steep, bush clad, tranquil and sheltered site with views down the valley to the harbour beyond, this house is built over three levels.
The roof planes fold in and step up the slope in a delicate origami, designed to fit closely within the site planning height constraints. Black Cedar cladding allows the home to blend into the dark bush surrounds, white the white soffits create a bold point of contrast and reflect light into the interior.
A LouvreTec roof encloses the elevated main deck and allows the living areas to extend out toward the view, while large stacker sliders and a generous bifold window in the Kitchen provide easy transition between the interior and the spectacular coastal views.
The Master Bedroom and Study on the upper level have even better views out to the Bay, and enjoy a feeling of seculsion and privacy in the tree tops. Here, the Ensuite to the rear has a freestanding Bath with secluded views back up into the bush.
The feature stair - built by the homes talented owner - is comprised of timber treads which appear to effortlessly cantilever from the wall to stainless steel rods, creating a visual centrepiece for the living spaces.
