Our clients were a group of passionate, loyal and determined community members \MlO formed the North Taranaki Sport and Recreation Incorporated Society in order to bring a oorld class sports hub facility to the Waitara community. With an extremely tight budget BGBB were able to oork together with community stakeholders, NTSRlnc and other local contractors and suppliers to produce not only an amazing multi-use sports venue but one that the community could identify with and be proud of. Consisting of a large multi-use space for conferences, meetings, discos, community gatherings amongst other activities, a purpose built gym-sports centre, covered exterior courts for all weather use, combined changing rooms and an administration hub for all codes. This project required BGBB to think outside the normal parameters of a recreational building to innovate and apply new technology to help keep the project costs to a minimum without loosing the cultural and local identity of the building design. The Gym Sports building is now being used as a model for future developments due to its cost saving materials and features.

Stage 1 of the Clifton Park Sports and Recreation Facility is now complete. This multipurpose facility is to service the Waitara Community and Taranaki Region with multipurpose spaces, a new building for gymnastic and multisport clubroom, new surfacing of existing asphalt courts, along with connecting canopies and paving. This facility is another string to BOON Ltd's bow of community infrastructure facilities, the forth multipurpose sport and recreation centre that they have developed in the last few years. Creating spaces fused with cultural symbolism will identify the facility with the local population which will be an amazing asset for the people of Waitara. The brief was to develop and design a Gymsport facility along with covered courts and an administration hub that was multifunctional and could accommodate a variety of sports, community and interest groups. BOON Ltd are proud to be able to help to bring this vision to fruition on behalf of North Taranaki Sport and Recreation Incorporated.
