Club Kelburn, or Club K as it is known, is Squash New Zealand’s Poipatu Aotearoa flagship facility based in Wellington. It is a complex containing seven squash courts and gym facilities, including a weight room, a martial arts studio and all the usual gym equipment.

Over the last 12 months, a significant renovation programme has been undertaken at Club K. This included a complete repaint and revamp of all the public areas, stairwells, hallways, changing rooms and the men's toilets.

We were called in at an early stage and were able to help put together a package and programme for installing new flooring throughout these areas. By working with the management team at the club, we have been able to incorporate some of the club colours throughout the floors to give the space a distinctive and unique look that ties the club’s colours and logo together throughout the building.

Having to undertake this project in stages has enabled the club to remain open and trading throughout the process. We have worked together to have minimal disruption to their working day. It has been great to see the building transform over this time from a drab and dreary space into a bright and colourful, vibrant environment.

This club has over 700 members and about 800 casual users of their facilities, so the foot traffic through this place is significant. It is open seven days a week for at least 12 hours daily and is constantly used. The materials that we presented and the club accepted are standing up exceptionally well to this hefty foot traffic, and the current club management is highly impressed with how this floor is performing and its ease of maintenance. “Being able to uplift a single tile that has had a spill on it such as paint or coffee and remove it, replace it with a clean tile and clean the spilled tile at a time that is convenient for us is wonderful”. “It means the place is always looking clean, tidy and in great condition”. Michaela, the club manager, explains.

The carpet tiles used throughout the public areas are 

• Belgotex Alpine Carpet Tiles in both striped and plain
• Belgotex Stoneage Tiles in Aqua & Orange are highlight tiles throughout.
• Stairnosings are Tredafe UP121 nosings with safety orange inserts.

We are proud of how this project has come together and enjoyed helping to revamp this facility completely. The impact on this facility's members and users has been tremendous, and the membership has increased since the makeover.
