Epsom House

Website

A quiet cul de sac near the northern slopes of Mt Eden is the site of a restrained but remarkable home. The dense old trees of the neighbourhood were part of the attraction, so it's hardly surprising that Sang Architects conceived the design with the section’s two mature pohutukawas framing the entrance way.

The 1.8m wide front door – a signature Sang touch – forms the gateway to a two-level layout that is airy yet substantial. Conceived on an elegant plan that balances long, gallery-like spaces with smoothly curved walls, the house boasts interlinked living spaces that open out onto inviting vistas of the pool and gardens.

With ample space in which to live, work and relax amongst treasured objects, this house is a classic that transcends its era.
