George Street Terracehouse - Number Two

Website

As soon as these clients saw their neighbours Poggenpohl, they knew they needed one for themselves.

But, challengingly, their terracehouse in George street Parnell is even smaller than the one next door.  So, to achieve a great design, the oven went underbench, the Liebherr refrigerator was integrated and the pantry was changed to a 35cm pullout one. The Gutmann Llano extractor was repeated.

The benchtop on the island was cantilevered on the end for a two-stool casual dining station. The splashback behind the hob, in the same material, is backlit with LED’s and makes the whole Poggenpohl seem to shine. The benchtop and splashback were Afyon marble which has translucent properties allowing for this feature while the stainless on the back bench provided a practical work surface.

These clients loved to entertain and therefore a dual-temperature wine fridge was vital. To maximise the storage of the kitchen and to allow for a ‘bar’ we used back-to-back cabinetry one the island. This, along with the hidden drinks fridge created another working zone while staying outside of the kitchen allowing for many invited guests.
