HACKETT STREET - Designed by Lara Farmilo

It could well be argued that Poggenpohl designer, Lara Farmilo, has achieved a perfect one-open-ended galley kitchen here in this renovation of a two-storied cottage in Herne Bay.

The client, whose parents already own a Poggenpohl, had full belief that this would be the outcome.

The dark, moody fronts in matte lacquer diamond grey combined with silver ash décor create a wonderful warm atmosphere in this part of the house, which is a half story below street level.
There is a nice flow out to the secluded courtyard garden, and this is strengthened by the low-level cabinets that stretch the storage to the maximum and on which the TV sits.

Whilst the kitchen is overall quite small, the use of the grey mirror on the far wall makes it seem bigger.  Likewise the complete lack of handles and the fully-integrated appliances help in this regard.
These appliances are Miele except for the integrated rangehood which is a Gutmann Llano 810.
The benchtops along the back wall is 12mm thick porcelain.
The ‘peninsula’ benchtop uses the same material but is mitred up to be thicker, 130mm, to allow for the cantilever which enables both occupants of the home to share breakfast on stools.

This was a challenging renovation for the builder but there was a high degree of trust between him and Poggenpohl that yielded an outcome that delighted the builder, the kitchen designer and, most importantly, the client.  The builder turned around and ordered a Poggenpohl for his own home renovation.

Improving the kitchen since 1892

Founded in 1892 in the heart of Germany, Poggenpohl is the oldest and best-known kitchen brand in the world. From that day to this, we have followed the vision of our founder, Friedemir Poggenpohl, who set out to ‘improve the kitchen’.

For more than 120 years, Poggenpohl has continued to ‘improve the kitchen’, transforming it from a humble backroom into a living space that’s at the heart of the home. Our pioneering history includes many firsts, including white lacquer kitchen furniture, ergonomic work-top heights, and the development of the kitchen island.

Technical expertise, materials of the highest quality, meticulous craftsmanship and trend-setting design go into every Poggenpohl kitchen. At our factory in Herford, Germany we pay the utmost attention to detail and aim for perfection in everything we make. That is the Poggenpohl way.

A global network
Poggenpohl kitchens are sent from our factory in Herford, Germany to more than 70 countries around the world. We work with over 450 Poggenpohl studios, whose skilled designers share our values and are able to translate their customers’ visions of an ideal kitchen into reality.
