Homebush - Clive Barrington Construction | ArchiPro

How the original Deans estate, which originally had its own power station, ever ended up looking like this is a long story.

First there were the Canterbury earthquakes, then there was the decision to appoint internationally acclaimed and completely off the wall architect Ian Athfield.

This was followed by the owner's desire to retain the warmth and tradition of the original home in a completely different footprint.

It was the last home Ath designed and quite rightly won an architectural award.

"After the original homestead was dealt to by the earthquakes much of the material from the old house was used in the new one, including timber from the surrounding bush.  We're good like that."
