The stunning and simple bougainvillea at the front entrance of this home sets the tone. Situated on an exceptionally steep site with difficult access, the garden was terraced into layers, providing for ornamental, edible, and native plantings. A strong interest in in environmental restoration and attracting bird life saw the entire bottom half of the garden given over to NZ plants including pohutakawa, kowhai, and manuka – a huge improvement on the previously bamboo and privet infestation.
