Marine Parade

Located on a quiet street in its sought-after seaside suburb of Lower Hutt, this home is close enough to the harbour that waves can be heard gently lapping. An extensive renovation has enhanced the visual connection with the sea and delivered modern living spaces that reflect the owners’ lifestyle. A second storey addition, echoing the form of a wharenui, has taken the ocean outlook to new heights. Its maahau (veranda-like space) allows for an intimate connection with the water. This upper level functions as a retreat for the owners, but can easily transform into guest accommodation. It boasts its own lounge, convertible couches, kitchenette and bathroom.  Downstairs, the superbly updated living space features an open-plan layout with designer kitchen and panoramic harbour views. Oiled American oak flooring and a black feature wall define the space. A private courtyard awaits for open-air entertaining. Extensive use of random width and depth cedar cladding creates a visually exciting facade that’s in harmony with the coastal location.
