Meadowstone House

New two story Wanaka residence incorporating strong horizontal forms

The house in Meadowstone Wanaka employs ceder facias to create bold horizontal bands around the eaves of both stories. The walls below the eaves then incorporate an equally strong element of transparency. The overall effect is then one of floating roofs over open plan living areas, courtyard and gardens.

The house is orientated to take full advantage of the view to Lake Wanaka and the sun. The careful eave arrangement allows for passive solar heating in winter and shading in winter.

The open plan Kitchen, Dining, Living is arranged perpendicular to the main axis of the residence. Stacking glass doors open either side of the main living area to reveal the view through the courtyard to the North and the terraced landscaping to the South, all while providing a visual link through the building.
