This project is an extension to an existing family home. This 1970’s home was in a sad state of disrepair. The location of this property in rural Helensville is what drew our clients’ attention. However, because of its rural location, Auckland Council restrictions meant a complete new build was not an option. To keep to the requirements for the property - the character of the house and the land is being kept and given a major facelift.
Graham Walls from Park West Design has been able to create great spaces for all family members, including the owners two dogs. We are mid-way through this design and are working closely with our designer Kate Pilot to create a traditional farm style home with a touch of modern elegance to bring it back into the 21st century.
The extension includes digging out underneath the house to make way for two bedrooms and a lounge. At ground level there will be a brand-new construction/extension of a three-car garage, a pool to the rear of the property and a large deck that will surround it. The deck will offer stunning views of serene countryside.
For the roofing on this project we are installing an Asphalt Single Roof which offers an extremely durable roofing system that will hold its aesthetic appeal for much longer periods than all other roofing products currently available in New Zealand. We are pairing this roof with Velux Skylights which provide great use of natural light within the home.
