Located in an established street within Wanaka and elevated above the lake, this site has expansive views towards Lake Wanaka, Mt. Roy and the surrounding mountains. The site originally had an old family crib located on it and the clients requested that the new house retain those qualities with a relaxed and informal character that could easily accommodate extended family and guests. Schist, steel and plaster were combined into a modern form on the exterior, with timber accents to soften the look. This external palette was carried into the interior, with cedar featuring in the main living room, creating a warm inviting family home.
