Meanwhile, stepped ceilings, wide architraves and skirtings, and panelled doors foster a traditional feel. The antique bronze hardware on the doors deserves a medal. Window seats with bookshelves in the bedrooms are another fine feature. Plenty of storage, a laundry and a garage with attic are pleasingly practical additions. In the bathroom, the bold, beautiful freestanding tub is a light and lovely place to soak at the end of a long day.
