This well-appointed boutique resort nestled amongst the lush rain forest high in the Waitakere Ranges has an otherworldly charm that has been carefully retained and reflected in the modern upgrade and new wing additions. The brief required a new hotel wing to increase accommodation capacity with large luxurious rooms with spectacular views of Auckland City and the Hauraki Gulf. The new wing incorporates a day spa and gym facilities and back of house services. It has a cohesive connection to the classic deco style of the existing hotel whilst maintaining and protecting the unique outdoor pool and sun lounging areas.

Challenges of location, gradient, exposure, protected Waitakere rain forest, and the need to maintain commercial operations during the redevelopment were incorporated into the design and development.
