This is the second home this client has engaged me to help them with, but this home is a very different look to their previous one. Intimate knowledge of the clients taste and of their furnishings from their previous home meant that I could help them to work these into their new, more contemporary interior. The goal was to create a forever family home; somewhere great for entertaining, but also lovely for day to day living both inside and out. The client and I worked together closely from the outset of the project to ensure all the layouts worked. We worked together on all the finishes from tiles, carpets, paints, exterior finishes, flooring, lighting etc right through to overseeing curtain making and installation at the end of the build as well as soft furnishings.  From time to time, we are still working on various small additions and finishing touches to the project; a home is always evolving.

The clients also worked closely with their architect throughout the project, with many bespoke items such as cedar window shutters, stunning white steelwork on the staircase, raking timber ceilings amongst many other beautiful, architectural features throughout the home. The site is sloping and the architect has thoughtfully designed the home to follow these contours as you travel throughout the house. Despite the level changes, the home is generally a single storey home other than the stand alone master suite at the top of the house. The angles of the building’s exterior roofline correspond in the interior to create interesting and intimate spaces.

An amazing builder with a real eye for detail completed the set. Projects like this really are a team effort and input from all channels; architect, builder and interior designer have really helped to bring this home together and to achieve the stunning and unique finished result.

Detailing is key in every aspect of the home. From the stunning handblown glass pendants in the upper stair well to the cedar ceilings that transition from the exterior to the interior of the home and beautifully set off the American oak floors throughout the kitchen, dining and hallway spaces.

Set around a courtyard layout with a sparkling swimming pool and spa, this stunning architecturally designed St Heliers home makes the homeowners love of entertaining effortless and enjoyable.

About the
Professional

Creating an imaginative, stylish and original look for your home is my priority. My aim is to ensure you have an elegant, modern interior that suits the needs, taste and lifestyle of all who live and work there.

My experience

I have over 20 years’ experience in the interior design industry, both in NZ and the UK. I have been involved in a huge variety of projects, large and small, so contact me now to discuss all your design needs. From a new build home or an extensive renovation, to simply accessorising and “pulling together” your existing schemes, your job – no matter what size – will receive my full attention.

I began my interior design career in London in the 90’s, studying at the Inchbald School of Design and then going on to set up the interior design service for the English fashion house, Mulberry. When I returned to NZ in 2000, I set up Jackie Jones Interior Design.

What I do

Even on a small scale, your renovation will require you to make a huge array of decisions, often with the pressure of time constraints. With my knowledge, experience and contacts, I can work directly with your builder and tradespeople, simplifying the decision making process and eliminating stress.

I offer a complete design service, specialising in residential interiors, including:

  • Curtain fabric selection and making
  • colour scheme consultation both interior and exterior
  • Space planning and layout
  • Children’s bedrooms
  • Bathroom design
  • Furniture, purchase or custom build
  • Soft furnishings and accessories
  • Product sourcing and “shopping trips”

Who I work with

Putting design ideas into practice often means co-ordinating a team of professionals – I work with experienced tradespeople who I trust and have long-standing relationships with. This means you get quality service and an excellent finished product.
