Waipatiki Beach

The site is as much rural as it is coastal and it is this setting that has strongly influenced the form and building language.
As the sea is some distance off, and with an undeveloped section between the site and the sea, it was decided to focus out to the tranquil valley to the north west. A sheltered deck space, focused on this view, is framed by running a small bedroom wing east west and the main living wing north south. The remote bedroom wing shelters the deck from the cool breezes and hides the mess of beach life … tents, trailers and a water tank.
