A tired 1930s bungalow in Remuera received a complete overhaul by builders QBS IT, with a new exterior, revamped interior and indoor-outdoor flow to a new pool. We spoke to QBS’ Troy Jury about the scope of work and how to renovate an old house without blowing the budget.
The exterior was completely revamped, a deck added, and a sculptural spiral stair connects the living spaces with the pool.
The house's new striking colour scheme unifies it and gives it a contemporary look.
The interior was completely gutted and an open-plan layout was devised.
The dark, recessive kitchen is a show-stopping centrepiece.
The living and dining now flows out seamlessly to a covered deck.
The dramatic white spiral stair contrasts against the darker exterior elements.
Steel tray cladding interconnects easily with stained cedar and weatherboard.
The new pool is a favourite hangout area for the family.
From above, the house is completely rejuvenated.
