Passionate about designing and manufacturing windows and doors to a world standard, BINQ is thrilled to introduce their new Weinig Conturex machine — the CNC machining centre that makes ‘world standard’ more than just a catchy tagline.

Australia’s high-performance window manufacturers, BINQ, are celebrating a significant milestone with the addition of the Weinig Conturex machine. This CNC machining centre, made in Germany, is designed for window and door manufacturing and is known for its precision and automation in processing solid wood components.

“It’s actually the most advanced window manufacturing centre in the world,” says Andre Griffs, Head of Design & Architectural Sales at BINQ

“When we started BINQ over 16 years ago, we knew nothing — and I mean nothing. All we knew was that we were passionate about windows and doors, and we wanted to start a business. When we got into it we realised that most of the equipment and technology available in Australia was very traditional. After attending trade shows in Germany we discovered the technology we were looking for was available in Europe, so we started to purchase pieces here and there, working tirelessly to get ourselves to the level of skill and knowledge required to own a machine like the Weinig Conturex,” Andre explains.

“It’s not just about the machine, you’ve got to know how to use it. If we had bought the machine 12 years ago we wouldn’t have known what to do with it; we’re proud that we’re at a place now where we can work with the world’s best equipment — that’s why it’s a milestone for us.”

“Our tagline is ‘world standard’, and that’s not just a tagline that sounds good, it’s something we truly believe in and strive for. This step in our journey means we can confidently say that we are producing to a world standard; it’s our commitment to our clients, our team and ourselves. We’re saying it’s ok to expect more and push for something exceptional.”

How the Weinig Conturex has transformed manufacturing at BINQ

Of Conturex's numerous features and benefits, Andre is particularly pleased about the reduced likelihood for error — which also means less waste.

“There are inherently higher error rates in traditional manufacturing methods and process flow, but thanks to the Conturex’s capabilities, we’re able to significantly reduce the gap between planned and actual production, and also implement advanced joinery techniques.”

This means BINQ clients receive a window designed and manufactured to the world’s highest standards — a major advancement for the Australian window industry that has, until recently, been playing catch-up with Europe.

BINQ has also implemented a new software platform that seamlessly integrates with the Conturex. This new platform drives the process flow from enquiry to delivery and site logistics, while providing an unprecedented level of machining detail direct to the Conturex.

Remaining a staple in BINQ’s timber offering, the rejuvenated Archetto series will feature design enhancements for increased thermal efficiency and reduced air infiltration, with standardisation across all systems to a 68mm profile sash.

As BINQ’s highest-performing window, this increase in thermal efficiency on the tilt and turn is an exciting step towards greater thermal efficiency for Australian homes.

New additions to the BINQ range

With the arrival of the Weinig Conturex comes the introduction of the new and improved Archetto series. Remaining a staple in BINQ’s timber offering, the rejuvenated Archetto series will feature design enhancements for increased thermal efficiency and reduced air infiltration, with standardisation across all systems to a 68mm profile sash.

“Conventional manufacturing methods have a lot of constraints, but this machine reduces many of those. One of the things we can do is reduce the overall width of the timber frame on our tilt and turn window, which increases the window’s thermal efficiency and is more aesthetically pleasing.”
